Plans for a major retail development in St. John are moving forward following a decision by the Town Council….

…The change from the previous zoning of small planned unit development and commercial zoning will allow developer Bruce Boyer to have more flexibility for his development on the site for Shops 96.

Shops 96 is a similar development to Shops on Main at the southeast corner of U.S. 41 and Main Street in Schererville, which is also a Boyer development.

Shops 96 would occupy more than 165,000 square feet at U.S. 41 and 96th Place. Existing buildings on the site will be demolished, including the one that houses St. John Malt Brothers Brewing, which will relocate within the new shopping development.
